So a guy told me to remove the fuse to keep the grill shutter open. But I’m wondering if the grill doesn’t already stay open during track driving. Does this help for track purposes? Shouldn’t the grill be open during high performance driving anyways?
If anyone knows, please give me your opinions!

The grill shutter is just to warm the engine on cold starts, esp for colder days.
The shutter most definitely should stay open while driving aggressively, and I doubt it is closed for most of the driving you do.
You can disengage the motor from the shutters to keep them open, and keep the motor plugged in to keep it from throwing codes, but you have to remove a decent amount to get to it. If you live in an area that gets cold, I wouldn’t worry much about it.

I believe if you leave it alone, it will open and close as needed. In a way, leaving it open all the time can hurt your times in that at high speed, not letting it close will result in more wind drag and less speed.

Gotcha. I think one idea that it helps is that the grill shutter sits in front of the intercooler so leaving it open could allow better cooling and therefore HP gains.

We all know the right answer... Get a big intercooler that requires removal of the AGS.

I believe that it will close at high speeds to stop the air getting under the hood and creating lift, making the front end feel light. You could get a hood with vents to relieve the pressure under the hood.( you don’t want high pressure building under the car or you will get lift)

Grill shutters are to improve aero at highway speeds for better mileage. Helps with CAFE, even the slight gain they get from the shutters.
